People with Alzheimer's disease sometimes lose the ability to recognize familiar places, to communicate or to remember their own name or address. They may leave home, become confused and get lost. This can be dangerous for people with the disease and worrisome for caregivers. But there is help.

Safely Home™ --  Alzheimer Wandering Registry is a nationwide program designed to help find the person who is lost and assist in a safe return home. This service assists families, long term care facilities and local authorities in the identification of lost/wandering individuals. This is a joint program with local Police Departments throughout Guelph and Wellington County, R.C.M.P. and The Alzheimer Society of Canada.

If you are concerned about a person with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia who may wander or is wandering, please call the Alzheimer Society of Guelph-Wellington at 519-836-7672 to obtain a registration form or to access additional information.

Fill out the registration form (also available at our office) with a cheque payable to Alzheimer Society of Canada for $35.00  (this covers the cost of the bracelet). Delivery of the bracelet will take about 4-6 weeks.
